Gordons Bay is a small idyllic seaside town on the Eastern edge of False Bay in the Western Cape, in the popular. Together with Somerset West and Strand, Gordon’s Bay forms part of South Africa’s Helderberg Basin, so named after the Helderberg Mountains that create a scenic backdrop to this charming seaside town.
The waterfront with its promenade lined with coffee shops, cafés and restaurants, is arguably the main attraction of Gordon’s Bay. Bikini Beach is the hotspot for the younger crowd to gather, with beach volleyball, surfing and kayaking being popular leisure time choices, while the main beach with its gentler waves and paddling pools is more family-oriented.
Lying on the eastern edge of False Bay, Gordon’s Bay is included in the stretch of coastline that is renowned for its whale-watching opportunities. Not only is Gordon’s Bay a superb holiday destination in its own right, it is also conveniently situated near to some of the Western Cape’s top tourist destinations. It is well located, just 25 minutes from Cape Town Airport and 40 minutes from the famous "mother City of Cape Town".
With its white-washed Cape Dutch architecture and oak-lined avenues, Stellenbosch and a host of wine-route options is a mere 35 minutes from Gordon’s Bay.
