The northern provinces of South Africa - Limpopo and the North West province – offer a mix of the country's nature. Bordering the north and west of Gauteng, both have in their own right some of the most scenic landscapes on the continent.
Although known mostly for the mining industries that exist in the provinces, some of the county's biggest farming and wilderness operations can also be found here.
Limpopo borders Zimbabwe and Botswana, while the North West province is not situated to the west of the country but rather to the west of South Africa's main population centres, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal. What really makes both Limpopo and the North West province big tourist attractions is their natural bushveld.
Polokwane, formerly known as Pietersburg, is Limpopo's capital and could be described by many as the land of "myths and legends". Popular for its ecotourism, Polokwane and its surrounding area is South Africa's premier hunting destination.
Just 55km away from Polokwane is the Zebula Country Club. It's a magnificent golf course laid out in the middle of the bushveld, and golfers shouldn't be surprised to encounter a giraffe or zebra while playing a round of golf.
An hour's drive away from Pretoria lies another one of Limpopo's most sought-after fractional property estates. The Elements Private Golf Reserve forms part of the magnificent Waterberg region and offers golf enthusiasts another chance of playing a game of golf in the middle of the African bushveld.
The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and the world. Established in 1898, this national park of nearly 2 million hectares is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. There are numerous lodges bordering and close to the Park, including Kruger Park Lodge, set on the banks of the Sabie River with its own golf course and full resort facilities. Paul Kruger Gate is 42 km from Kruger Park Lodge and the Phabeni Gate just 12 km.
Just a 40-minute drive west of Johannesburg and Pretoria, and north of Bloemfontein, is the picturesque Magaliesburg mountain range. Tucked away between the foothills and situated on the banks of Hartebeespoort Dam is the Pecanwood Golf Estate, which offers fractional investors the chance to play a game of golf on a Jack Nicklaus signature course. The Dam, with its spectacular scenery and proximity to Johannesburg and Pretoria, is the principal water recreation area of Northern Gauteng.
As a fractional property ownership or investment destination, Limpopo and the North West province offer real African experiences in the natural setting of the bushveld. Not just prime tourist spots, the Limpopo and North West province are now also opening their doors to the fractional property market.
