Keeping with the goal to construct and maintain Emerald Monkey with sustainable products, all building materials are crafted from natural sustainable materials. Interior flooring finishes in living and bedroom spaces are comprised of kiln dried Bengkirai. Bathroom flooring is burned Andesit stone, terrace and bedroom doors are constructed of Teak wood and are hand carved.

Door and window mullions are also constructed of Bengkirai timber. Bathroom basins are made of natural carved stone. Bathtubs are constructed of a single 6 foot long piece of carved granite. Striving to be one of the first carbon-neutral communities in the world, Emerald Monkey’s electricity is mainly derived from a hydropower plant. A natural biomass waste system will service the development, and filtered saltwater fills the community pools. Drinking water will be piped to the island directly from the fresh natural springs of the Panamanian mountains.

Transportation on the island is provided entirely by solar powered carts. The Banjar Village is the heart of the resort, an island village landmarked by an ancient stone monument gate where a footbridge leads to a cluster of traditional Balinese buildings. Villas are fully secluded, encompassing the living quarters blended with private gardens, fountains, terraces and private plunge pools in almost all cases overlooking the clear turquoise Caribbean water. All master baths feature exquisite teak woods, hand carved stone floors, individual stone carved washbasins along with modern indoor rain showers.

This unique bath suite flows into an outdoor private eight foot walled bath garden where the six foot single piece hand carved granite bath tub sits under a flowering vine covered veranda. Across the garden is a outdoor stone walled shower with water flowing from a beautiful Balinese water urn.


Relax inside and outside with rooms open to take advantage of the cool Caribbean breezes and enjoy all amenities. All villas come fully equipped and completely furnished.

76 villas are planned for Phase I of the development and includes 20 one bedroom; 41 two bedroom and 15 three bedroom villas.

All villas will be constructed in Bali, inspected, dismantled and shipped to Emerald Monkey, reconstructed and inspected on-site. Phase I is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011 and Phase II by the end of 2013.

The resort development is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2010 with approximately 50-60% of villas completed and resort amenities operational.
